Can I embroider a detailed photo?
Embroidery works with a limited number of solid thread colors, so photos are simplified into flat color areas. Pets, portraits and landscapes come out best when cropped tightly with a plain background.
What kind of image gives the best result?
Flat artwork with clear edges and a few solid colors, such as logos, badges and lettering. Photos with gradients are reduced to a small number of thread colors, so simplify them first for a cleaner stitch-out.
Which file format should I download?
Use DST for commercial multi-needle machines, PES for Brother and Baby Lock, JEF for Janome and EXP for Melco and Bernina.
